Deadly Colorado Fire Caused by Christmas Lights

Four mobile homes were burned from a fire started by an outlet overloaded with Christmas lights at the Crest Mobile Estates, according to the Fountain Fire Department.

The blaze originated from a home at 512 Windsor Lane around 2:00 a.m. after the family had spent the night wrapping presents and decorating the Christmas tree.

The fire claimed the life of Joe Nauta, 45, who was unable to escape his home before the ceiling collapsed. His wife and two children made it out safely and are being assisted by the Fountain community during this difficult time.
