Colorado Springs Auto Accident Lawyers React To Fatal Southern Colorado Crash
As Colorado Springs auto accident attorneys, we are used to hearing about devastating accidents. However, that does not make them any easier to process. Every car, truck or motorcycle accident in which an innocent person is injured is hard to learn about.
This one is no exception: Recently, a state trooper was badly hurt and a tow truck driver was killed in an accident in southern Colorado.
On Aug. 24, the two men were cleaning up the scene of an earlier accident on Highway 85 near Weld County Road 6 when they were struck by a pickup truck.
The tow truck driver died almost immediately, while the trooper was rushed to a nearby hospital. The full extent and nature of the trooper’s injuries has not been released. We sincerely wish him the best as he recuperates.
Authorities are still investigating the accident, but their preliminary inquest has suggested that the 61-year-old man who was driving the pickup truck at the time may have been speeding and may have been distracted. It does not seem that drugs or alcohol were involved.
If the family members of the deceased man choose, they might consider filing a lawsuit against the driver. These kinds of cases are called wrongful death cases; essentially, they allege that the defendant is responsible for ending someone’s life and ask for compensation for funeral expenses, loss of income, loss of companionship and other unplanned losses.
