A Colorado Springs native, Gordon has been practicing in Southern Colorado for 25 years. He has handled thousands of personal injury and workers’ compensation cases. He has argued cases in front of the Colorado Court of Appeals and the Colorado Supreme Court.
Providing high quality service to his clients is the highest priority to Gordon.
Gordon is an avid runner and has participated in numerous races throughout the central states including the Boston marathon. He loves to hike in the mountains and especially likes to “bag 14ers” (climb those mountains over 14,000 feet). He enjoys traveling, cooking, reading, and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
Barkley D. Heuser

Barkley Heuser is a Colorado native, living in Colorado Springs for 59 years. He has three brothers, one of whom is his partner, and one sister. He’s practiced law for 35 years in his hometown.
Barkley believes in giving straight-forward advice to his clients – not hiding the truth under a barrage of fancy legal terms. Working with a client who really understands the pros and cons of his case makes Barkley feel he is doing his job. He has enjoyed helping injured people and solving their problems.
Barkley and his wife are active in their church. His other interests include reading, walking, kayaking and playing with his two wiener dogs, Bob and Izzy.
Marilyn Muth is a Paralegal who joined our firm in 1994. She has been a paralegal in the personal injury/workers’ compensation field for 25 years.
She works closely with clients, insurance adjusters, medical providers, and attomeys ensuring that our clients receive the individual attention they deserve. Her position with the firm is one that requires great attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and dedication to helping clients. She works with clients from case opening to settlement. She spends time resolving issues between her clients and insurance companies and helps the attorneys settle cases in dispute. For issues that cannot be resolved, she assists the attorneys in preparing clients for trial. It is her responsibility to oversee discovery and depositions that may be necessary prior to the hearing. Her job is to ensure that a client’s benefits are maximized to the greatest extent possible.
Marilyn is family-oriented and enjoys researching the history of 19th century homes and visiting the houses.
Carla Augenstein brings 25 years of experience in the legal field to the Heuser & Heuser law firm. She first worked in a personal injury law firm in Beverly Hills, CA, before moving her family to Colorado to raise her two children Katie and Collin. She believes Colorado is a better place to raise her family and has been an esteemed paralegal at Heuser & Heuser for 18 years.
Carla works closely with clients from case opening to settlement. She deals with all aspects of a case, ensuring that each client receives the individual attention he or she deserves. Carla has a keen attention to detail and the ability to resolve difficult issues. She enjoys working with people and regularly contacts adjusters, medical offices and attorneys during her efforts to help clients.
When not at work, Carla enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and eight grandchildren. She is an avid runner and can frequently be seen on one of the many wonderful trails around town. She is also the proud caretaker of Indie, the office pup.
Kathleen Meek is a paralegal who joined our firm in 2009, bringing more than 19 years of legal experience in personal injury and workers’ compensation cases. She received her Paralegal Certificate from Pikes Peak Community College in 1991 and enjoys working with clients to make sure their cases go smoothly and they are kept up-to-date throughout the process. Kathleen uses her experience to translate often complex legal issues into more easily understood terms.
When not at work, Kathleen enjoys spending time with her husband and her three dogs, Knight, Sandi and Arden. She trains and shows her dogs and loves to go for long walks in the mountains or at the dog park.
