Colorado Springs Teen Dies in Crash with Utility Vehicle

Last Tuesday evening, Bethany Maes, 17, of Colorado Springs was killed in a collision with a utility truck at the intersection of Marksheffel and Fontaine. According to the Colorado State Patrol, Maes was traveling westbound on Fontaine in a Honda Accord when she apparently ran a stop sign and was hit by a utility truck headed north on Marksheffel Road.

You can drop off holiday lights and extension cords at participating Colorado Springs Ace Hardware stores. Many stores will also accept fluorescent light bulbs, mercury-containing thermostats, used cell phones, and rechargeable batteries for recycling.

Deadly Colorado Fire Caused by Christmas Lights

Four mobile homes were burned from a fire started by an outlet overloaded with Christmas lights at the Crest Mobile Estates, according to the Fountain Fire Department. The blaze originated from a home at 512 Windsor Lane around 2:00 a.m. after the family had spent the night wrapping presents and decorating the Christmas tree.
